The Importance of Evaluating your Measurement System

As quality expert Genichi Taguchi once said, “If you cannot measure it, you cannot improve it.”  This begs the question; how do I know that I am measuring correctly?  Any discussion on the topic of measurements will undoubtedly include the words precision, accuracy, bias, repeatability, reproducibility, and so on.  While it may seem like a very complex and challenging issue, there are simple methods available that allow us to assure that our measurement system is operating properly.
